Artists bio

Mohamed Diaby began playing the djembe at age seven, under the supervision of his elder brother Moustapha. By 15, Mohamed joined Africa Djole. Mohamed later joined Les Merveilles de Guinea as lead drummer, touring all over West Africa. In 1995 Mohamed arrived in America, today, Mohamed travels around the world teaching and performing.

Mamadouba Mito Camara was born in Conakry, Guinea. In 1989, Kemeko Sano, Artistic Director of the world famous national ballet of Guinea, Les Ballet Africains, witnessed Mito’s explosive and precise drum style. At age 15, Mito held Ballet Africains 1st accompaniment chair for a few years and was lead for an additional 6 years. Today, Mito performs and teaches around the world.
